Morning
Prayer Service,
every Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
This service is from 9:00 to 9:50 a.m. and is a simple
Service of Morning Prayer and Holy Communion.
This service
follows the traditional pattern practiced by people
all over the world to begin their week with Scripture
readings, a short meditation on one of the passages
read, a time of prayer and intercession for both personal
concerns and for the world at large, and a service of
Holy Communion.
We primarily
use written prayers, and the use of these prayers permits
us to concentrate on our prayers themselves rather than
on finding the right words for those prayers. This is
a very freeing way to enter into prayer time and many
find this to be a most powerful way to worship and experience
the Presence of God.
Each service
ends with the celebration of the sacrament of Holy Communion,
also known as the Eucharist. In the United Methodist
Church, many have expressed a longing to be able to
participate in this special time on a more regular basis.
It is a powerful and beautiful way to begin the week
as we remember the historic basis for our faith and
find the grace to live out that faith in the present,
seeking to love God and our neighbor as fully as possible.
The United
Methodist Church practices open communion, and all are
welcome to come and participate. Children of all ages
are also welcome, and we will have child-care for those
who would like to make use of that service.
