From
the time I first began to appreciate the presence of God
and the promise of grace, I have loved the church and
wished to serve it. It has been a long and often complicated
path to the pastorate, but one I treasure because of all
that it has taught me.
To
have the privilege of encouraging spiritual growth, mission,
and formation is the joy of my life. Diverse, gifted,
aware individuals push me to offer the best I have, to
come up with creative and innovative worship and programs
that center on the work and person of Jesus Christ and
to encourage a holistic response to the love and grace
of God being poured out upon us.
A

Graduate,
Rice University, 1971, with a degree in Anthropology.
Graduate,
Dallas Theological Seminary, 1995, with a Master of
Theology. Taught preaching, teaching and writing classes
there and also directed their distance education program.
Graduate,
Perkins School of Theology, 2004, with a Doctorate
of Ministry.
Former
Assistant Dean for Off-site Programming at North Park
Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois, where I
created the first accredited online/intensive Master’s
level program for a mainline seminary in the United
States.

At Lovers Lane, I directed the Single Adult Ministry,
the Adult Christian Formation Ministry and the Website
Ministries.
Married
to the Rev. J. Keith Cupples, Senior Pastor,
Kirkwood United Methodist Church, Irving, TX. We have
five children between us:
Elizabeth,
who married the delightful James Ko on August 11,
2006, is pursuing an acting career in Los Angeles.
Jonathan,
an airline financial specialist with the Seabury Group
who married the lovely Adriana
Moreno Pena on Dec. 13, 2003 and whose first
son, Joshua Thomas Pena Sullivan,
was born May 15, 2006 and second son,
Samuel David Sullivan Pena, was born on November
13, 2007. They live just outside Paris, France.
David,
investment banker with USB-Paine-Weber in New York
City, who married the lovely Shawna
Richardson, a recruiter for Price Waterhouse,
on Nov. 15 2003. Their first daughter, Kate,
was born on June 27, 2007, and they live in New York
City, NY.
James,
a musician in Oklahoma City.
Daniel,
a senior manager with Price Waterhouse in New York
City, NY.
