Exciting news from TxDOT about the upcoming
2008 Texas Trash-Off on Saturday, April 5th. Mark your
calenders! Update your PDAs! Let's all head out to the
FM 156 bar ditches and haul away all the unsightly trash!
Meet us at the church at 8:00 that morning and we'll
go from there.
"Greetings Adopt-a-Highway groups: The Don't
Mess with Texas Trash-Off is an annual event encouraging
Texans across the state to join forces to clean up
Texas' roadsides. An estimated 827 million pieces
of litter will collect on our highways this year alone,
which means we need your help more than ever!
Your participation on April 5, 2008 is essential
and sends a message to Texans everywhere that the
smallest efforts really do make the biggest difference.
Last year, we had more than 17, 300 Adopt-a-Highway
volunteers throughout the state of Texas who participated
in the 2007 Trash Off, and together we picked up approximately
25,574 bags of litter! Hopefully this year we can
exceed that number and continue to do our part to
keep Texas beautiful."
