Adult Ministries |

| Below
are some suggestions as of March 2008 by Rev. Wayne Collins
for the ongoing Senior Adults Ministry at Krum UMC. A
further meeting on May 8 generated the ideas on this
page. |
| I
suggest the following ministries for the seniors of our
church knowing that what and how much we accomplish will
depend on many factors, not the least of which is our
health and energy. Here goes…….. |
|
a. We will need seniors to be involved in an Altar ministry
dedicated to keeping the Lord’s Table properly adorned
and clean. Their duties would be to polish the brass when
needed and insure that the color of the season is displayed. |
|
b. We need a small group of volunteers to telephone the
homebound and other seniors daily to make sure they are
alright. This ministry could be expanded into the community
involving non-members as volunteers and as recipients
of daily calls. |
|
c. We need someone to put together a directory of agencies
in the community that provide services, e.g. food banks,
transportation, counseling, etc. This would be valuable
to the telephone volunteers and the pastor. |
|
d. We need volunteers to start a program to equip every
senior with an emergency kit. This kit would include toiletry
articles, 3 or 4 days of medicines, a list of relatives
to contact with telephone numbers, etc., and anything
else a person might need. The kit would be placed in a
handy location so it would be available at a moments notice. |
|
e. We need to get together at least every other month
as a group for a luncheon, a program or a trip. |
|
f. Most of all, we need to open our hearts and minds to
what God may be directing us to do. Perhaps a group that
would meet regularly for prayer. |
