Inquiry Class--Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Krum UMC

Two or three times a year, we offer something we call the “Inquiry Class” to those who have indicated interest in this church and might want to learn more about it. We meet once a week for several weeks for a time of free-flowing questions and discussion. It's a good way to get to know several other people and to ask questions about us and where we are going. At the end of the time, those who wish to join the church formally will be given an opportunity to do so as a group on a Sunday morning. It's much nicer to do that together than it is to take a lonely walk up the aisle at the end of a church service!

We're going to start the next Inquiry Class on Wednesday, October 1. I hope that you will consider attending. The evening will begin with a shared meal at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The meal is part of the Midweek Miracle/LOGOS ministry that we are preparing to launch when we move, so you will get to experience the uniqueness of those meals. Everything is provided by our LOGOS kitchen team, so there is no need to bring anything. There is no charge for the meal, although we are willing to take donations to cover the cost of the food if you wish. After the meal, adults will come upstairs to the Sanctuary with me while a team cares for the children downstairs. The evening will end by 7:50 p.m.

Joe Emerson, Liane MacMillan and I will be leading the question/answer time for the adults. Joe is our Lay Leader and has been an active member here for a long time. Liane is a new member—she and her husband, Joel and their children, Greta and Claudia, have been a part of the church for about 16 months. Between the three of us, we can offer multiple perspectives on the nature of Krum UMC. We'll touch on United Methodist beliefs, church organization, expectations of membership, plans for the future, and any other questions that may come up.

So please join us. You do not need to RSVP, but if you do, it does help with meal planning. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Office phone: 482-3482; cell phone: 214-418-9541; email: christy@krumumc.org.

Looking forward to seeing you,

  • Rev. Dr. Christy Thomas, Pastor
