| We dare to dream
of a church so alive, so vital, so full of the grace of
God the Father, the love of God the Son and the communion
of God the Holy Spirit that this surrounding community
sits up and takes notice. |
| We dare to dream
of a church so aware that we have been reconciled with
God through Jesus Christ that we overflow with compassion
and service and blessing, touching the world with goodness. |
| We dare to dream
of a facility that invites and shows hospitality that
ensures all are welcome, not just the able-bodied and
healthy. |
| We dare to dream
of those in wheelchairs and walkers coming into this church
with smiles of hope, knowing there is a place for them. |
| We dare to dream
of a place with bright and well-equipped children’s
classrooms where we will teach the children of this community
what it means to be secure in the love of Jesus so they
can navigate the difficult years of adolescence with hope
and dignity. |
| We dare to dream
of a youth group so alive to Jesus and to the possibility
of turning the world upside down by their faith and their
willingness to live from it that they start a revolution
of grace that reaches to the edges of the world. |
| We dare to dream
of the expansion of our already excellent music program
so that singers and musicians from all over the area come
to us eager to glorify God and lead us in multiple forms
of worship with their gifts. |
| We dare to dream
of a church facility with which we are so generous that
everyone from the surrounding community has a reason to
come inside at least once a week, be it for worship, civic
meetings, educational opportunities, youth meetings, mid-week
programming for children, arts and crafts opportunities,
a community garden, sand volleyball, soccer practice or
pre-school. |
| We dare to dream
of a pre-school program that is in such demand because
of the quality of education and character building that
these little ones receive here that we will have to add
classroom space within two years to accommodate the demand
for this service. |
| We dare to dream
of a debt-free building that leaves us free to be ministers
of Jesus Christ, not worrying about paying our bills or
whether the basement will flood with the next rain or
another non-repairable underground pipe will break. |
| We dare to dream
that the Good News of Jesus Christ so fills us with hope
that we forget what it means to live in fear. |
| We dare to dream
that the time is now that we will indeed do what God has
called us to do as this historic and generous church,
now celebrating 130 years of ministry, looks forward to
the next 130 years. |
