Easter Thanks

As I prepare to leave the country and spend a couple of weeks in France with one of my sons and his family, I want to say "Thank You" to so many who made this past Sunday and all of Holy Week special. First, my thanks go to Vicky Russell, who not only prepared the beautiful worship bulletin, but who also played the piano each night for the Holy Week Services. Every evening, those coming early were treated to 15 minutes of exquisite music planned to prepare our hearts and minds for worship. In addition, she and her husband, Scott, spent multiple hours on Saturday to help prepare the grounds so they would look nice.

And speaking of preparing the grounds--a huge "thank you" goes to Sue and Jack Knight, along with their grandchildren, Tanner and Rachel, who spent Tuesday helping to clean up the education area after the latest flood and then Thursday, Friday and part of Saturday with the yard clean up work that had to be done. The place looks so much better! When Ron Sides (who is recovering nicely from surgery) gets back to church, be sure and tease him about letting us down as "Chief Groundskeeper" by not arising from his bed in ICU and getting on his mower!

I don't even know who all brought the delicious food and made the Sunday brunch so good, so this is just a generic "thank you" to all of them, but I do know that June Schiada made sure the that room looked festive and seasonal with the lovely tablecloths, plates and cups she brought and set out for us. Thank you, June!

Wayne and Lee Collins came on Saturday and wrapped the Easter Lilies (with material donated again by June Schaida) and polished the brass cross and candle stands and candle lighters. What a labor of love. Thank you.

I also want to thank Robert Edwards who even as I write is working to repair the hole in the floor where the piano leg from the Sanctuary fell through. And then there is Joe Emerson, who missed worship on Tuesday night so he could keep the water from flooding again during worship. And speaking of Joe, he and John Bodnar and Beverly Barber and Teresa Riggs all spoke messages this past week of wisdom and hope and holiness during the services. What a blessing!

Add to this the choir under the gifted leadership of Jennifer Scoggin. You all are incredible--such power and beauty in the way you offer your musical gifts to us. Thank you. Because of you, our hearts soar to the heavenly places in worship. How 14 voices can put out sounds like that is beyond me, but you do it.

In advance, I also thank Tim Jones and Rev. Wayne Collins who will be filling the pulpit while I am gone. To have this much talent to pull on in this size church continues to amaze and bless me.

There are many others whose names I've not written here--each of you in your good gifts and service show the beauty of Christ in your souls. I will miss you all while I am gone.

In my absence, Rev. Wayne Collins will handle pastoral issues, and Rev. Jarrell Sharp is also on stand-by if needed. Call or email Vicky Russell in the church office if you need something (vicky@krumumc.org, 940-482-3482) and she'll help you get in touch with either Wayne or Jarrell. I will be back in worship with you on April 13, and look forward to seeing you then.

au revoir,
Christy
