April 20 Krum Star Article, "Re-Union"
Reunions hold a major place in our society. Family reunions, class reunions, church reunions. The word itself holds such hope—the “re”—doing something again—of a union, a connection between people who have been separated for a short or long while.
Connection: a core hope and value of the church. In our connection, we recognize that we are children of God, and as children of God, we are brothers and sisters. As brothers and sisters, we are held together by bonds offering love that transcends all differences, disagreements, and challenges.
This Sunday, April 22, we at Krum UMC are holding a Reunion of our own. All Sunday morning activities will take place at the Krum Middle School Cafeteria. There will be a lovely brunch provided, special activities for the smaller children, lively music and singing, the viewing of a video about the past and future of Krum United Methodist Church, and further information about our Dare to Dream campaign as we prepare to build an entirely new worship, ministry and educational facility at 1001 E. McCart.
I’ve lived and worked in Krum now for nearly 10 months. After being appointed to serve here by the Bishop of the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, I came into a community clearly undergoing a great deal of change. I’ve only begun to probe the depths of these changes and still have only a small sense of how they are impacting this area. Change always enhances instability and often provokes heightened insecurity. Change also offers fresh hope and new beginnings and previously unexplored opportunities for growth, both personal and corporate.
This Sunday, we invite you to see the fresh hope, new beginnings, and unexplored opportunities as we Dare to Dream together of the future of Krum United Methodist Church at this grand Reunion Brunch. It’s a time to rejoice in our connection together, to refresh our ties with loved ones and our brothers and sisters in faith. Don’t miss it!
Just a reminder: there will be NO services at the church building this Sunday. Everything takes place at the Krum Middle School.
See you Sunday,
Christy
